Pet Shop by Elli Jenks – Progress 6

I’ve finally finished the second story of the Pet Shop. (I just noticed that I have a few bricks to outline along the outer edges though.) There’s another bird up here and a yellow cat sitting in the window on the right. Lots of little details! Did you notice that the blue and white striped shades are at different levels on each of the windows?

Next is the roof after I stitch two rows of dark brown for the gutters. This is done on one piece of Aida cloth. The front is done, next the roof section for the front and the back and then the back side of the Pet Shop. When that long piece is done, then I stitch the two side pieces separately and then sew it all together. Here’s the whole front of the Pet Shop.

For those who have asked, the large bone in the shop window says BONEOS. I have to assume that it’s a dog bone brand in New Zealand where Elli Jenks lives and designs her pieces.

  1. I love that the window shades are all at different levels. I never would have noticed that if you didn’t point it out but it makes the piece a little more realistic. Loving the details, can’t wait to see it finished!

  2. Out of curiosity, I googled Boneos, and got Boneo, a small (pop <400) "rural locality" in the south central part of Australia. Love the play on words for the pet shop though. Will there be a door knob on the door? Maybe a little bead?
