Cross Stitch Update – December 2017

I’m creeping along on 3 projects I would really like to finish.

First up is Norfolk Diligence Sampler. I’ve almost finished the first of the 5 octagons with designs done over 1 thread. There are 3 more little flowers to go. I’m hoping to get another octagon finished and turn the corner on the outer border before the next update.

The second one I need to finish is the Cat Stocking for myself. It won’t be done before Christmas, but I need to keep working on it and get it done so I can start on the stockings for the two new granddaughters.

The striped present has been backstitched and I’ve been adding more background so I can backstitch the orange cat sleeping on top of the present (he’s facing away from us). The brown step to his left has a cat sitting up tall on it and another cat just above the orange cat as well.

And lastly, I’ve made good progress on Love You Still. Two of the large words are done and I’ll start the last one (Still) this weekend. The smaller word above will be “yesterday” by the time I finish stitching today. That’s being stitched with a subtle overdye from Gloriana. The hearts are stitched with dark gold DMC Satin floss. Another week and I’ll be able to start working on the rest of the design and get some more of the golds and overdyes going.

I hope all of you are enjoying some wonderful stitching and have a Very Merry Christmas!

  1. I enjoy seeing your progress, Jan. Are the motifs inside the octagons all different? How many cats in total on the stocking? I love the details. Are the darker colors of the striped present on the heel side supposed to represent a shadow? Now that I’ve revived my interest in calligraphy, I also appreciate your Love You Still piece. Hope you find time for lots of stitching during the holidays!
