Norfolk Diligence Sampler – Progress 14

Page 5 in now finished! I did all of the rooftop for the manor house, even though part of it was on Page 6. It was just easier this way.

You can see that I have a LOT to do on Page 6, starting with the outer border. I’m hoping I can get it all of Page 6 done by this time next month.

There is a lot of backstitching to do on the manor house, but the instructions say not to do that until the entire manor house is complete. Onward!

Norfolk Diligence Sampler – Progress 13

After putting Father Christmas away, I pulled this project out to finish this year. I haven’t worked on it since December of 2015. Here’s where I had stopped at that point:

NF Sampler 11

Actually, there was a little more done on the side borders. I’m now working on the large band with the manor house which has the roofs on pages 5-6 (what I’m working on now) and finishes with pages 7-8.

NF Sampler 13

The middle of the design runs through the beige section of the chimney. The sky on the left side is completely done. When the rooftops and chimneys are done on these two pages, I’ll stitch the night sky on the right side and continue the side border on that side. It’s good to be working on this again. I’m enjoying it a lot.

WIPocalypse 2016 – December

This month we show where we started the year on projects and the progress or finish of each. I’ve had a good year with 13 finished projects and 1 that was added and completed.

I finished 1 the train stocking and then stitched 2 more stockings –

I’ve enjoyed being a part of WIPocalypse for several years, but I won’t be joining for 2017. I’ll keep working on projects at my own speed and post my progress – just not at a specific time each month.

I hope 2017 will be a super stitching year for everyone!!

WIPocalypse 2016 – Introducing My Projects

I started a lot of cross stitch projects last year, so this year is the year to try to get some of them completed and off the list. There are also a couple of new pieces that need to be done this year. So here is my list and my goal for each project:

  1. Batman stocking (adapting from a cross stitch design) – start and complete this year
  2. Elephant stocking (adapting from a cross stitch design) – start and complete this year
  3. Persian Iris Mandala – My goal is to completely finish this one by the end of the year

Persian Iris 3rd corner-44. Father Christmas – complete pages 1-5 out of 30

Father C-75. Gossamer Fractal – finish – it’s half done and I haven’t touched it in over a year

Gossamer-76. Norfolk Diligence Sampler – would love to finish it this year

NF Sampler 117. Continue working on Hometown Holiday pieces – currently I have finished one this month and still have 3 in my stash – finish all 3 by the end of the year

8. Bright Sea Express – finish 2 of the 4 cars of the train

Polar-413. Patchwork Sampler Serenity – completes pages 1-3

14.  2 Mill Hill bead kits, maybe

15. Hopefully start the first of the 4 Stoney Creek seasonal banners

I enjoyed being part of this last year and I hope it continues to encourage me to get things finished this year and slowly decreases my stash of projects and threads.

WIPocalypse 2015 – December

The year is ending and  I’m looking over my progress for the year. I didn’t complete a lot of projects but started or worked on a lot of mainly large projects. Many of them will continue on to the 2016 list for completion. So here is a review of my projects for 2015.

  1. Persian Iris Mandala – it started here:

PI-Prog26

Progress now:

Persian Iris 3rd corner-4

2. Gossamer Fractal – no progress at all

Gossamer-9

3. Father Christmas – I restarted this after advice from all of you (thank you!). This is where I left him this year:

Father C-7

4. Norfolk Diligence Sampler – here’s where I started in January:

NF Sampler - 5

Progress to date:

NF Sampler 12B

5. Hometown Holidays – I started with 2 waiting to be stitched and it’s grown to 4 during the year. I completed the Village Church and started the Fire House. More to be stitched  next year.

Church-2

Fire St-2

6. Bright Sea Express – Started, but not even one car of the 4 completed.

Express 5

7. Chapter Tiles – I started the first of the two tiles. There is a mistake somewhere around the middle, so I’m going to do the border all the way around and then slowly work toward the center, hoping to find and correct the mistake. Here’s my progress:

Chapter 2-3

8. Frosty Forest – not started

9. 2 Mill Hill Bead ornaments – not started

10. NOEL Quadrille – not started

Pieces that were added during the year:

  1. My own design – Hearts & Flowers was designed and stitched.

2. 3 ornaments for my granddaughters – Playful Snowmen are not done (one is almost done)

Snowman 1-3

3. Polar Express – started. Here is my progress:

Polar-3

4. Train Stocking for DH – Here’s my progress. I finished the first car full of trees, added two more cars and started a third one. I’ll continue to work on it until it is done and made into a stocking for next year:

Train station 9

5. Patchwork Sampler Serenity – started ( to be worked on next year)

Serenity-1

Summing up:

2 completed

2 WIP made some progress

7 started

4 no progress

I hope I can do better in 2016. I want to complete the projects that have now been started so I’ll have more than 2 completions for the year.

WIPocalypse 2015 and DESIGN  both helped me make progress on some projects and start some wonderful pieces to work on next year. Looking forward to seeing everything the rest of you have worked on this year! Happy stitching!!

WIPocalypse 2015 – Blue Moon Edition

I have two questions or instructions for the posting this time. One says to answer the question – “What makes you pick up a long-abandoned UFO rather than beginning a new piece? I hate to abandon a piece and do want to finish each piece in my stash. I have several of my own design that have been put away for several years now, but I’ve had new ideas to get past the problems I had the first time around. That’s one reason. Many of my projects are rather large and I definitely need a break from them sometimes. But I always pick them up again, in order to get them finished.

1. The other says to show a piece that has a lot of blue, since this is the Blue (second) moon of the month. That’s easy – my forever project, the Persian Iris Mandala by Chatelaine. Here’s the progress this month – the third mosque is now complete. I’ll start on the buildings forming the next corner when I pick it up again next week.

Mosque 3 done

And here is the progress on the whole piece so far.

PI Prog 28

2. Chapter Tiles from Modern Folk Embroidery – I’ve decided how to proceed on this. I’m going to do the outside border and the corner leaves on the bottom two corners. When that is all done I’ll start working my way to the center and see if I can find the error that prevented me from completing the first part of the center.

Chapter 2-3

3. Polar Express from Madame La Fee – You can see the start of the heart shape now. I’ve haven’t gotten very much done since I showed you this piece earlier in the month.

Polar-2

4. Norfolk Diligence Sampler – Not too much on this one either. A few more flowers and the start of the manor band. One cloud is done, the sky is started and the beginning of the sun.

NF Sampler 12

5. Bright Sea Village Express by Elli Jenks – This has been going so slowly no matter how much I work on it. But the first side of the car is now completed. So when I work on it again, I’ll be stitching the top of the car. Once that is under way, I’ll be able to start the second side of the car as well.

Express 5

6. Train Stocking from Stoney Creek – this is coming along very well. The car I had started is now complete. The tender full of coal is part of the engine – the coal is done and the side of the tender is also complete. I just stitched the top of the cab of the engine and you can see where Santa will be stitched next, leaning out of the window of the cab.

Train Stocking-3

Unlike many of you in this group, having so may project to work on each month just isn’t working for me. So for the month of August I’m going to work on just the two train pieces and try to get as much done on them as possible. I also have several Christmas presents and some ornaments to get done for this year. I will get back to everything else again in a month or two. I won’t abandon any of them. I just need a break from some of them. And I miss my needlepoint projects – so I will get busy on a few of those as well.

WIPocalypse 2015 – June

I haven’t done as much this past month on my projects. But here goes…

1. Persian Iris Mandala – the carpet has all the beads sewn on. The mosque #3 has about half of the cross stitches done. The small triangle sections on each side of the light turquoise is done over one thread instead of over two like all the others. I hope to have this mosque completed by the end of this month.

Mosque 3-2

2. Norfolk Diligence Sampler – I have completed the fourth band of the sampler, but I still have to finish a little of the border on each side.

Band 4

I’ll do the divider next and then start on the largest band – the manor house! Yeah! When I have 11 rows done on that band, I’ll be at the halfway mark. It’s taken a year to get to this point and I hope that it won’t take that long for the second half. Here is the first half all done. I want to finish pages 5-6 by the end of the month. I’m half done with those pages.

NF Sampler 11

3. Chapter Tiles from Modern Folk Embroideries is coming along very slowly. I guess I’m not working on it as much. I’m still in the second quarter of the design.

Chapter 2-2

4. Bright Sea Express by Elli Jenks is also one that hasn’t had a lot of attention. This first side of the car has 3 windows, which are now there but not all filled in. Then I’ll have to finish the part below the windows. I want to be working on the roof of the car on the right side by the end of the month.

Express-4

5. Santa Train Stocking for my DH. The second car has all the red for the side and front completed. The roof is almost complete and then I can fill in the windows and the door. I want to have the tender full of coal done by the end of the month and maybe a start on the engine.

Train Stocking-2

Lots to do here and of course my needlepoint as well. Keep stitching everyone!
